  1. Thirty-Nine Weeks

    39 weeks

Not much has changed this week in the baby department.  I had my 38 week Dr. appointment on Thursday.  I didn’t gain any weight this week, but that’s totally normal.  A lot of times the last couple of weeks a woman will either stop gaining weight or lose a few pounds.  The Dr. checked me and I was about 1.5 cm (not much of a change) and still 50%, but the baby’s head had moved down to the -1 station (lower in the pelvic cavity: 0 station is kind of like half way and +5 is when the baby’s head is crowning).  So, that was a positive change 🙂  Baby’s heart rate is in the 140’s and still is head down.  Everything is looking good!

Monday we met our neighbors and kids at a great park that is close by.  We brought our dog and walked around for a while.  It is a really nice and pretty big park – we look forward to bringing our baby here one day 🙂

Tuesday we had to take our pup to the vet to update his kennel cough vaccine and while we were there it turned into a little bit of a bigger deal…  We had noticed that he was limping and favoring his right leg the last month or so and we mentioned that to the vet.  Turns out his right knee is swollen and they think he may have twisted it or possibly even partially torn a ligament.  So for 2 weeks we have to keep him calm and not running around (ha!) and we have to give him meds. It’s a good thing I’m not at work and can help keep him low-key.  It’s a full-time job in itself!

I was able to get the house mostly together this week, so when we have the baby we now won’t be bringing ‘him’ home to a mess!  So that’s nice 🙂  On Friday our new glider & ottoman were delivered – yay!  Saturday Sean & I put it together and it is really awesome.  Very comfortable and looks good too!  We can’t wait to cuddle with our little one while rocking away.  So, now our baby room is REALLY done 🙂  There’s not really anything else I could think to do in there!  We’re very pleased with it and I even spent some time sitting in there on Saturday reading – it was very relaxing.

Saturday afternoon we met some friends at the Sponge docks for lunch.  We also spent some time walking around and looking at all the small shops.  It was a really nice afternoon and it was great to see our friends.  That evening my dad was driving through and we went to dinner with him.  It was good to see Dad and spend some time with him – even though he wasn’t feeling top notch.  He better get better soon 🙂

Sunday, Sean started a small fan project, that once again turned into a bigger deal than we planned (isn’t that always the way it is?).  Our bedroom fan had been making a horrible noise, so the short story is that Sean took it down and apart and basically we had to get a new one (not because of him, a bearing was too worn out – and the fan was 23 years old anyway!).  So after a trip to Lowe’s and thanks to some gift cards we had (the fan was basically half off after that!), Sean put the new one up and it is awesome.  It looks great, doesn’t make a sound, and my wonderful husband installed a remote control – so now we can be in bed and turn the light off or the fan up or down depending on our comfort level. It is really awesome!

We didn’t watch a movie this week (we’ve been concentrating on finishing this season of Dexter).  We both have been reading a lot too – the “Game of Thrones” series.  Sean is now on the 5th book and I am on the 4th as of last night.  We are both really enjoying the books.  I would definitely recommend them to anyone who likes a little fantasy and medivial/kings/queens… ect.  Just a note to anyone who does read it: a friend of mine gave me this advice when I started reading them and now I will pass it along – don’t get too attached to any of the characters, there is no guarantee that any of them will live long!

I think that’s it for now. One week till D day 🙂

Our little one is still the size of a small watermelon (weighing anywhere from 6.5-9 (!) lbs. & about 20 in. long).
