Half Way!! Whoo-hoo! Feels like such an accomplishment! Now if I can just get through the next 4 weeks, then I will let loose a HUGE sigh of relief and most of my worries will be gone (24 weeks is usually considered the age of viability if a baby is born early). But I feel great making it to 20 weeks 🙂
I’m feeling pretty good. Still get a little tired after a long day of work, but other than that not too bad. I’m not having heartburn or indigestion yet (yay!). No leg cramps, not too many headaches, no swelling… So not much to complain about 🙂 Feeling the baby moving every day, a few times a day. Sean still isn’t feeling it though. My tummy is hard and I’m getting to the point where I can’t really hold it in anymore. It’s really strange to me! Such a change from pre-pregnancy. We spend years of our lives looking at our bodies and watching to make sure it’s not growing too much – and now I’m watching my body change so much and wanting it to grow – so weird! But definitely fun!
Last week I had to go out and buy maternity shorts because I’ve totally outgrown my regular ones (probably the article of clothing that I will miss the most!). And I’m going to need some shorts for our upcoming cruise 🙂 Other than that, I’ve got a couple pairs of jeans and some shirts that are maternity. And I think I’ll be wearing a lot of empire waist dresses on this cruise. I’m at that point where people are probably looking at me thinking, is she or isn’t she? Except at work – thank God for scrubs! I’m still able to wear most of my regular scrubs – so far!
Something else that happened this week- we had our last dance lesson. For those of you who don’t know, Sean and I have been taking dance lessons (together!) for about 2.5 years now – since before our wedding. We started so we could look good for our first dance and we really liked it and so continued. However, the expense is something that we have to cut out for our baby budget 🙂 We learned a lot and hopefully we will continue to keep up with our ‘skills’ and that way when we’re able to take lessons again we won’t have to start at the beginning. And I think we will take lessons again. It’s something that we both really enjoy and a fun ‘date night’ for us to look forward to. It’s a little sad to me that we won’t have this to look forward to each week, but before we know it, we’ll have a little something else to occupy our time.
We did some more registering on Sunday. We’re doing good 🙂 I think we’re going to register again next weekend, but this time start at Target! There is so much stuff we need – okay, we don’t need it, but it’s great to have. It’s actually been a good thing that I have the ‘daycare’ experience because I have a good idea of what babies like and what they don’t like. Of course, each baby is different, but it’s a nice starting point. We had our massages again as a reward- and let me tell you, I needed it!! I think that’s something that I will be doing every two weeks the rest of this pregnancy. At least, I would like to!
We had dinner with my parents and a good friend last night. That was really great. We hadn’t seen them in about a month, so they were excited to see our ‘progress’ in the baby department. We’ve been skypping (sp?) with Sean’s parents and we’re going to set up my parents too – so that’s pretty great! And that way everyone can ‘see’ us more often and not feel left out being far away.
Okay- this post is getting a little long winded… so I’ll go for now! We have an OB appointment on Thursday with an ultrasound… more on that later 🙂 And pictures too!! I’ve gained about 6 pounds now.
Our little one is now the size of a large mango or a banana (the length is about 6.5 inches from head to bottom and about 10 inches from head to heel) & weight is about 10.5 oz.
