5 weeks
5 weeks again...
More booby drama to come… FYI if you don’t want to read 🙂 Just in the first paragraph though…
So, after 9 out of 10 days of my two drugs (both an oral and topical drug), I didn’t notice any difference. I called my Dr. back on Wednesday and and let them know what was going on. They wanted me to come in and so I did. Immediately, the Dr. said, “That is for sure yeast. Through 20+ years of doing this I’ve never seen those two drugs not work. I know that can happen, I’ve just never seen it.” That made me feel wonderful… ha! She ordered me a different topical med and said it should begin to get better by Monday. Through the weekend I waited and waited for something to happen… and it never did. Meanwhile, I was still not actively breastfeeding… just pumping and giving bottles to Haley. And we’re still having to supplement with some formula. At this point, she’s getting about ½ breast milk and ½ formula. If this doesn’t clear up soon, I’m going to have to stop the pumping and just go to all formula. My main issue is that the pain I have limits the ways in which I can even just hold my little baby – and that is really frustrating. I really just want to cuddle with her and that is really hard to do right now.
This weekend we decided to have a family weekend- just our little family! It had been a while since it was just the three of us during the weekend. And let me just say, my husband is awesome! He let me sleep most of the weekend while he took care of Haley most of the time. It was wonderful 🙂 She is sleeping good at night. One to two stretches for about 4 hours… very nice for mommy. And during the week, Sean also takes her pretty much from the time he gets home to about 1 or 2 in the AM. I get a good 3 hour stretch of sleep most evenings thanks to him! Couldn’t do it without him!!
Tonight, Monday the 5th, I got to go out to dinner with a couple girlfriends. That was really special. We even pre-celebrated my birthday a little bit 🙂 It was great to see my friends and have some time away from home. I didn’t even miss the little one too much- although Sean once again had to almost throw me out the door. It was hard to leave! But once I was out, I was ok. I guess that’s one nice thing about pumping – I don’t have to worry about her schedule when I leave the house… just mine.
This past week we started doing real tummy time. Before I just let her do it while on our chests or laying across our legs, but this week we started using the activity mat and letting her go for around 5 minutes or until she was too fussy to accomplish anything. She does pretty well 🙂 She really likes to lay on her back and look at the play fish aquarium and the mirror. She also loves to lay in her crib and watch her Noah’s Arc mobile. Ahh- the simple things in life 🙂 And she slept for the first time in her big girl crib this week! Just for a little bit during a nap, but still a big step for us. I was a little sad to see her in there to tell the truth – she’s growing up so fast!
Next week is a busy week and an exciting one. Haley gets to meet another Great-Grandparent – my dad’s mom. And she gets to meet more family from my side! Next week is her pediatrician appointment too and we’ll get to find out how much she weighs. She’s starting to get a little roll on her thighs!!
