  1. Twenty-Nine Weeks

     29 weeks

Wow- another productive week!  We’re really rolling now 🙂  I already wrote about my poor glucose results that I got Monday, so I’ll start with Tuesday.

Tuesday we had our first child preparedness class.  Our neighbors warned us about this class… and we should have listened.  So far it has not been very informative.  We did learn a couple of techniques to relive back pain/pressure, which are helpful… but that’s about the extent of our new knowledge!  The instructor suggested a couple of things to add to our list of stuff to bring to the hospital that we thought were good ideas, so I guess that was helpful.  Other than that, the instructor said this a lot, “Yes, there are ways to help that, we’ll get to that later.”  Or, “Good question, we’ll get to that later.”  I think you can see where this is going.  So we have one class left (this Tuesday) and I’m thinking there’s going to be a lot of unanswered questions when we’re leaving there!  Oh, well.  Now we know what not to do next time 🙂  I guess we’re just too informed already!

Wednesday we had our OB appointment.  We met a new Dr. whom we really liked.  We have one left to meet (there are 5 in the practice and you have to meet them all because whoever is on call is the one who will deliver you- no picking your favorite!).  She did not seem concerned about my glucose test – I don’t show any other symptoms right now of gestational diabetes, so I’m very hopeful that this next test will have better results.  I am also measuring exactly on target – my belly measurement was exactly 28cm.  I’ve gained about 17 pounds so far.  Although, I gotta say, it really doesn’t feel like it.  I mean I realize I don’t fit into my old pants anymore and I can’t fit through tiny spaces that I think I can – but I don’t feel like I weigh 17 lbs more than I did before.  I guess that’s a good thing.  Or maybe I’m in denial!  Either way is fine with me!!  We asked her about the anesthesia consult again and she was not realy convincing either way – so, I suppose we’ll go without for now.  We will be going every 2 weeks to see the Dr. now – until 37 weeks, when we go every week.

This weekend has been very productive so far.  We’re in the process of moving around the office furniture to make way for the guest bed.  All the furniture is out of the ‘guest room’ (new baby room) and last night I cleaned the carpet in there.  I also painted a few small swatches on the wall and we’ll get to pick a color today. Then today our plan is to paint!  We have a couple friends coming over to help – so that should be fun.  For those of you worryiers out there, when I painted my very small swatches yestereday, we had the window open, a big fan blowing, and I wore a mask 🙂  No need to worry about me inhaling toxins!  We met my parents for dinner last night and we were able to give them a few pieces of furniture that we no longer have room for.  Dinner was fun, as always, and getting rid of some stuff from our house was much needed.  Right now our house looks like the beginning stages of someone on the show ‘Hoarders.’  There is stuff EVERYWHERE!! Oh- well, it will get better 🙂

    More next week!

Our little one is now the size of a squash (weighing around 2.5 lbs) & is about 15 inches long!
